Coffee franchise – owner/operator advantages

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

Coffee franchise ownership, depending on the specific franchise, can offer most of the benefits of owning your own coffee shop or business, but without many of the headaches that usually accompany having your own small business, such as a coffee shop.

The reason is that when you own your own business 100% and are not taking directions from anybody, you are on your own, calling your own shots, and are working strictly for yourself. You are also doing a great deal of work and taking significant financial risks.

The beauty of a coffee franchise, or generally any franchise system, on the other hand is that you can enjoy many of the advantages of having your own business, but you will have experts guiding you every step of the way – that is if you select the right coffee franchise.

The franchise concept has become successful because it provides the consumer with virtually the same user experience no matter which outlet of a franchise they do business with, whether it is a hamburger outlet or a hotel. Franchise head offices know that if they were to allow every franchise owner-operator to just use their brand name, but otherwise run their coffee franchise, for example, any way they liked, it would result in a bad consumer experience. Or at the least it would result in an inconsistent user experience.

Providing consistency between various outlets of a franchise is achieved, as you probably guessed, by making sure that each operator of a coffee franchise, for example, operates their coffee store or coffee shop exactly the same way that the guy on the other side of town, or in the next town, operates theirs.

The advantage for you as a coffee franchise owner/operator is that the head office does much of the tough decision making about marketing, advertising, store or shop decor, brand(s) of coffee, types of food, menu design, and advertising.

You simply operate your coffee business or shop efficiently, according to the master plan. By doing so you will have a much better chance of making money than an inexperienced person trying to set up their own coffee shop or coffee store, completely on their own.
